Ogasawara-mura, Tokyo Ogasawara Downrange Station

The Ogasawara Downrange Station was established in Ogasawara, Tokyo, in 1975 as a National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) facility.
The Ogasawara Downrange Station is equipped with radio equipment (e.g., launch vehicle telemetry receiving equipment) to track launch vehicles in flight by radio waves in order to check the flight path and flight status of launch vehicles as well as to ensure flight safety (e.g., monitoring abnormal flights) launched from the Tanegashima Space Center or Uchinoura Space Center. The Ogasawara Downrange Station is connected to the Tanegashima Space Center by a dedicated line, and the acquired data is transmitted in real time.
