We need to focus our efforts on supporting teachers and schools, and developing teaching materials. The solar system is explained in the current junior high school science textbook, and the extent of space beyond our solar system is described in the current earth science textbook for high school students. However, school textbooks have limited pages, and few teachers can truly read between the lines, find the secret, create interest in the science of space, and explain it to students in Japan. Instead, teachers simply and superficially explain what is written in the text. Such a way of teaching may even have the reverse effect and quell students' interest in space. Therefore, we first need to provide support to teachers who want to teach about space. Close ties with related public organizations, such as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Technology, are imperative in order to maintain such long-term educational support on a national scale. In addition to teachers' training, it's imperative to develop teaching materials in cooperation with active teachers. In order to successfully accomplish this educational mission over a long period, administrative-level evaluation is necessary for teachers who are engaged in developing teaching materials.
