Pencil Rocket Story--The dawn of Japanese space development--
Yasunori Matogawa
April 12th marks a special day in the history of Japanese space development. Some 50 years ago, on April 12th, 1955, a rocket named ?encil?was successfully launched horizontally in an experiment at Kokubunji in the Tokyo metropolitan area, opening the first page in Japanese space development. Describing the events of 50 years ago to find out older people's limitless passion, ambitions and ideas for space will greatly contribute to development over the next 50 years. With this in mind, I will reminisce and present the following to all individuals who love space and technology, and take the challenge to develop space further.
