Comment from the President of JAXA

The Soyuz TMA-02M spacecraft was launched today from Baikonur, Kazakhstan. It was placed into the appointed orbit and I feel great pleasure for this success.

Astronaut Furukawa will stay aboard the ISS for about five months and a half as Expedition 28/29.
I feel confident that he will be able to accomplish this duty based on his hard training and his previous experience.

I sincerely appreciate the support and cooperation from NASA, FSA and the other international partners who have been working on the missions for Astronaut Furukawa. I wish our mutual collaboration to continue in the future.

I wish the safe return of all the crew.
