Launch Time and Window of H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 23
with GPM Core Observatory onboard

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) decided the launch time and launch window for the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 23 (H-IIA F23) with the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) core observatory onboard under the following schedule as a result of the latest analysis (*1).

*1: Collision Avoidance Analysis (COLA analysis): A collision avoidance analysis is an analysis conducted prior to a rocket launch to avoid a collision with manned space systems, such as the International Space Station, which are in orbit and the rocket and/or its payloads.


Scheduled date of Launch : February 28 (Friday), 2014 (Japan Standard Time)
Launch time : 3:37 a.m. (JST)
Launch Windows : March 1 (Saturday) through March 31 (Monday), 2014.
(The COLA analysis will be performed again if the launch day slips, and the launch time will be set to sometime between 3:07 a.m. and 5:07 a.m.)
