Establishment of Cooperative Graduate School with Kagoshima University

National Space Development Agency of Japan

The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) has established a cooperative graduate school at the department of science and engineering with Kagoshima University for the purpose of enhancing student's educational and research levels by utilizing NASDA's intellectual and human resources. Through this cooperation, NASDA will provide to students an opportunity of practical experiments on space development. NASDA has had a cooperative relation with Kagoshima University since 1999 by sending NASDA's personnel for lecturing about space science and technology.



Outline of the Cooperative Graduate School


Purpose

To contribute to the development of science and technology by combining the teaching and academic research at the graduate school of science and engineering at Kagoshima University with the NASDA's space technology and research.

Structure

Kagoshima University has accepted two NASDA persons as part-time lecturers at the graduate school of science and engineering and has given a title of a visiting professor and a visiting assistant professor to them. They teach at the doctoral course and review doctoral thesis in cooperation with the professors of the university.
On the other hand, NASDA has accepted one graduate student of the University at NASDA's Tsukuba Space Center in 2001. NASDA will continue to accept a graduate student from the University every year.
