September 13, 2002 (JST)

National Space Development Agency of Japan

The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) has confirmed that the Data Relay Test Satellite (DRTS), "Kodama", has been placed into the predetermined 3rd transfer orbit at the result of the 2nd apogee engine firing.

The orbital parameters calculation results of the 3rd transfer orbit are as follows:
  Resultant Parameters Planned Parameters
Height of Apogee: 36,029 km (36,029 km)
Height of Perigee: 32,392 km (32,279 km)
Orbital Inclination: 0.65 degrees (0.55 degrees)
Period: 22 hours 36 minutes (22 hours 34 minutes)

Currently Kodama is working normally.

From now on, the 3rd apogee engine firing will be conducted for about 4 minutes from about 10:26 September 13, 2002 (Japan Standard Time) so as to place Kodama into the drift orbit.
