September 14, 2002 (JST)

National Space Development Agency of Japan

The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) conducted an orbit transfer of the Data Relay Test Satellite (DRTS) “KodamaEthrough the 20 N thrusters for 39 minutes from 9:21 September 14, 2002 (Japan Standard Time) by sending commands from the Tsukuba Space Center.
The telemetry data from Kodama confirmed that the 20 N thruster firing was carried out successfully and the satellite was injected into the drift orbit.
Currently, Kodama is working normally.
This orbit transfer maneuver has no effect on the projected satellite lifetime (7 years)
The result of the orbit calculation after this orbit transfer and the future operation plan will be announced after 18:00, September 14, 2002 (JST).

(Additional Information):
Deployment of the two mission antennas (the feeder link antenna and the inter satellite communication antenna) is planned to be conducted from about 8:30, September 15, 2002 (JST) to about 10:00, September 15, 2002 (JST).
