What to Wear in Space:The Future of Spacewalks and Spacesuits

Astronaut Akihiko Hoshide was on the International Space Station for about four months, from July to October 2012. On that mission, he performed his first extravehicular activity (EVA), or spacewalk. This was the third spacewalk by a Japanese astronaut, and the longest - lasting 21 hours and 23 minutes. In this section, we look back on this historic EVA, and discuss current developments and challenges with spacesuits and Japanese spacesuit research.
