Current Status of the deployment of the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer/Cloud Profiling Radar (EarthCARE/CPR) Antenna Main Reflector

May 30, 2024 (JST)

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency

The full deployment of the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer/Cloud Profiling Radar (EarthCARE/CPR*1) Antenna Main Reflector was confirmed by telemetry data of EarthCARE received at the Troll Satellite Station, Antarctica at 10:14 a.m. on May 30, 2024 (Japan Standard Time, JST).

*1:

Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR):
CPR is one of four sensors onboard the EarthCARE satellite to measure the upward and downward flow velocity of cloud particles with Doppler technology while observing the vertical structure of cloud.
This will improve the accuracy of climate change projections, which will contribute to climate change response measurements.
