Essays and Drawings Contest for "Space Day"

Winners Announced!

The National Elementary School and Junior High School Essay & Drawing Contest is held annually on September 12, in commemoration of "Space Day." The theme for the FY2019 contest was "First Ever! Space Expo" and attracted a total of 5,257 submitted essays and drawings. The three drawings below are the main works that were awarded in the drawings division.
And in the essay division, WATANABE Naoya was chosen as the Grand Prize winner for the elementary school division, YAMAUCHI Yuma was selected for the junior high school division, and KANNO Yuzuha was selected for the JAXA President's Award.
HARADA Shuhei, who was responsible for planning and organizing this contest, summarized the entire program saying, "All of the entries were filled with imagination, and were great works where you could tell that the contestants put in a lot of work into researching, studying and thinking about space and about expos." He also says, "I hope this contest would trigger even just a little more interest in the fields of aerospace, science and technologies among elementary school and junior high school students who have their future ahead of them."
